Lake Sevan is the largest lake in Armenia and one of the highest lakes in the world. It is located at an altitude of about 1900 meters above sea level, in the eastern part of the country. Sevan is known for its beautiful nature, clear water and mountains surrounding it.

One of the most famous historical and cultural sites on Lake Sevan is Sevanavank Monastery, located in the former island in the northwestern part of the Lake Sevan, currently Sevan Peninsula. It is an important landmark of the region.
